Job Summary

Lecturer in Music- Voice (Full time, not tenure-eligible)

The Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University (GA) seeks an exceptional voice teacher and performer to begin August, 2024.

Responsibilities

Significant Duties and Responsibilities include: Teach a studio of voice majors and minors, including primarily students pursuing undergraduate degrees (BA, BM Performance, BM Music Education, Musical Theatre Certificate). All vocal music majors receive hour lessons. Studio Class instruction is also expected weekly.; Build relationships with local, regional and national professional organizations.; Maintain an active performance schedule.; Coordinate ensemble, performance, and production assignments, juries, student recruitment, and related matters with the voice faculty and ensemble conductors as a collegial member of a team.; Teach other music courses as assigned by the director of the school of music. Full teaching assignments for a Lecturer at CSU are the equivalent of fifteen load hours per semester.

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications include: Outstanding professional credentials as a performer and studio teacher. Preference may be given to applicants with a completed DMA or equivalent advanced degree. Candidates will possess either a master's degree or significant professional accomplishments in lieu of the degree. Performance and teaching expertise in both classical and musical theatre genres is preferred, with an emphasis on the healthy development of the student voice. Applicants should have demonstrated success in recruiting talented students.

Preference may be given to candidates:
1. with experience in teaching at the college level
2. who have held one or more professional performance appointments
3. who have experience teaching vocal arts courses in diction, vocal literature, and/or class voice (majors/nonmajors)
