Job Description / Duties

Teaching studio voice to graduate and undergraduate students; other duties as per the needs of the voice area and School of Music.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Education Requirement:
Master’s degree in voice (must be in hand by start date).

Required Qualifications:
Collegiate-level teaching experience
Significant performing experience

Desirable Qualifications:
Earned doctorate or equivalent professional performing experience
Demonstrated track record teaching in a variety of styles beyond traditional Classical music, including contemporary commercial music styles, music theatre, and/or other non-Western Classical vocal styles

The University of Iowa School of Music seeks a collaborative colleague to complement the voice area at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor, beginning in the fall of 2024. This is a full-time, one-year position, renewable up to three years pending positive reviews and budgetary approval.

The School of Music provides conservatory-like instruction at a Big 10 research institution, offering graduate and/or undergraduate degrees in composition, conducting, jazz studies, music education, music theory, music therapy, musicology, and performance. The School enrolls approximately 450 majors and has more than 50 full-time faculty members, situated in the Voxman Music Building, a state-of-the-art facility that opened in 2016 in downtown Iowa City.
