Bio: Soprano Deanna McBroom has appeared throughout the United States and in Europe, featured with symphony orchestras in over 40 solo and oratorio roles, and in leading roles in over 30 operas, in recitals, and in chamber music. Ms. McBroom is the Singing Voice Specialist on the Voice Team at Medical University of South Carolina’s Evelyn Trammell Institute for Voice and Swallowing. Now maintaining a private studio, she retired from a 45-year college teaching career as Professor Emerita of Voice from the College of Charleston's Department of Music where she served as Director of the Voice Program. Her students have attained successful national and international singing and acting/film careers and are winners in national singing competitions. In demand for master classes and adjudication, she lectures nationally and internationally and has published articles on rehabilitation of the singing voice and treatment/prevention for injured singers, most recently for The Voice Foundation Symposium, Performing Arts Medicine Association Symposium, the National Convention of National Association of Teachers of Singing, the British Voice Association, and the Austrian Voice Society. McBroom is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison (with distinction) and University of Louisville (summa cum laude). She currently serves as the liaison from NATS to Athletes and the Arts (AATA) and the Performing Arts Medicine Association (PAMA), and from the Voice Foundation to Athletes and the Arts (AATA) as well. She is a past-President and past-Secretary of the South Carolina chapter of NATS.
