With 30 years private studio and university teaching experience, Cynthia Vaughn helps singers gain technical skill, vocal expression, style, and confidence. She has compassion and a joy for teaching that encompasses singers at all levels and ages. Her voice students include high school and college students, professional singers and actors, music educators, singer/songwriters, retirees, church and community singers. Cynthia is widely respected as a teacher, performer, and co-author of a leading voice class college textbook and song anthology. Authors Meribeth Dayme and Cynthia Vaughn completed the 3rd edition of The Singing Book for WW Norton Publishers, Inc NY/London in 2013. Cynthia is a member of National Association of Teachers of Singing, Music Teacher National Assoc, a Certified CoreSingingTM Teacher, and is Certified in Level 2 Contemporary Commercial Music Vocal Pedagogy (Somatic VoiceWorks). She has a Master of Music Vocal Performance/San Jose State University, Bachelor of Arts-Music in Vocal Performance/Cal State Eastbay, and completed doctoral coursework and recitals at Univ of Northern Colo. Cynthia was on the voice faculty of Colorado State University 1999-2008. She previously taught at Cedarville University in Ohio, Arvada Center for the Arts, ArtConnectsInternational in Urbino, Italy, and was a doctoral TA at Univ of Northern Colo. She has performed professional opera, operetta, music theater, oratorio and concerts in NY, Chicago, Cincinnati, San Francisco Bay Area, Washington, and her home state of Colorado. Recent professional performances: “I Hate Music” song cycle with pianist Alan Madsen for Bernstein 100th Anniversary Concert, Richland WA (2018); Soloist Mid-Columbia Symphony and MCM Symphony Chorus (2017): Mother/Amahl and the Night Visitors, Handel’s Messiah; Soloist Yakima Symphony Orchestra (2016): soloist in Mendelssohn's Midsummer Nights Dream, Miss Manners on Music house concert.
