Bio: Dr. Stanley Cornett, tenor, recently completed his thirty-sixth year as a long-time member of the Voice Faculty at the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University. He is now retired from academia and is teaching with a Private Studio at his home in Baltimore. Dr. Cornett was previously Assistant Professor of Voice at the University of Michigan School of Music and was Co-Director of the Seagle Music Colony summer vocal program. As a performer, Dr. Cornett has enjoyed a versatile singing career of more than forty years in repertoire spanning nine centuries and myriad genres. He has consistently been praised by the press for his beauty of tone and elegant style. Many of his live performances can be found on multiple streaming channels. Performing over thirty operatic roles, he has appeared with the New York City Opera, the Washington Opera, the Baltimore Opera, Hawaii Opera Theatre, Mobile Opera, and Dayton Opera, among others. He has been soloist with many of America's major orchestras with conductors including Robert Shaw, Christopher Hogwood, and Eduardo Mata, and with such orchestras as the Dallas, Atlanta, San Diego, Baltimore, National, Omaha, Charleston, New Mexico, St. Paul Chamber, and the Shinsei-Nippon symphony orchestras. Dr. Cornett has been soloist at Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, and Alice Tully Hall with the Oratorio Society of New York and Musica Sacra, at Symphony Hall in Boston with the Handel and Haydn Society and Chorus Pro Musica, and soloist with virtually all the major choral groups in Washington and Baltimore. He has appeared with Theater Chamber Players, the Folger Consort, the Smithsonian Chamber Players, the Bethlehem Bach Festival, and the Aldeburgh Festival in England. Dr. Cornett has been featured in national television and radio broadcasts with the Louisville Bach Society, the Library of Congress Concert Series, NPR, and PBS. He was previously Winner of the Oratorio Society of New York Competition, and Finalist in the prestigious Walter Naumburg Competition and the Young Concert Artists Competition. Dr. Cornett was represented by IMG Artists Management.
