Title: Independent Vocal Coach and Clinician
Bio: I currently hold BMEV and MA degrees from Eastern Michigan University with add'l study at Rene Clausen Choral School, UMich and VanderCook School of Music. I recently retired as Director of Choral Activities at Lincoln High School (Ypsilanti, MI) after twenty years of teaching in the public schools. I have taught Applied Voice and Secondary Choral Methods as adjunct instructor at Adrian College. I am the Founding Artistic Director and Executive Director of Carillon Women's Chorale (Ypsilanti), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which promotes SSAA Intermediate to Advanced SSAA opportunity to women of all ages and all walks of life from throughout Southeast Michigan. I have taught private studio voice and in SE Michigan schools since 1984. I taught for five years at Adrian College (Michigan). My private voice students and Lincoln HS students have won at NATS auditions and received First Division and Superior ratings at MSVMA Festivals under my direction. Individual students in my programs have been promoted to State, All-State and National Honors Choirs. I utilize the Berton Coffin Bel Canto vowel modification system to facilitate maximum resonance and healthy tone production for solo voice/theater and in the choral setting. Having served the MSVMA organization in multiple rolls to include Vocal/Choral Adjudicator/Clinician since 1992, I have received the MSVMA Member Emeritus award in January, 2015. I serve as a clinician for school and church choirs and have made myself available for NATS auditions. I was honored to receive the 2016 ACDA-Michigan Maynard Klein Award at the 2016 ACDA-Michigan Conference.
