Tannis Sprott

Bio: Tannis Sprott was granted a Bachelor of Music Performance degree from Brandon University in Manitoba. She then attended the Banff School of Fine Arts for two years, where she was associated with the Music Theatre Studio Ensemble, performing many newly commissioned contemporary works throughout Alberta and British Columbia. Her background is wide ranging and varied, including modern theatre works, standard opera roles, and recital and oratorio work, although early music remains her greatest passion. She has performed with Orchestra London, at the opening of the Elora Festival, the Music at Sharon Festival, Opera Atelier, and was a member of the Tafelmusik Baroque Chamber Choir in Toronto for 25 years. She has recently done solo recitals throughout Ontario, as well as Calgary and Edmonton with her husband and accompanist Mark McDowell. As a teacher, she has run a private studio since 1991, and was Principal Voice Teacher at Redeemer University College in Ancaster, Ontario for 16 years.
