Bio: Soprano and pedagogue Lori McCann holds a D.M.A. and Artist Diploma from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Currently Assistant Professor of Voice at the John J. Cali School of Music, Montclair State University (NJ). Other positions include voice faculty NYU Steinhardt, Columbia University, Teacher’s College, and Director of Vocal Studies, Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville. She has performed extensively in the Germany and the United States appearing in opera, oratorio, and recital. Roles include: Mozart’s Pamina, Countess, Fiordiligi and Second Lady, Mimi, The Governess, Fulvia (Ezio, Händel), Janacek’s The Fox, Giulia (La scala di seta, Rossini), Iphigénie (Iphigénie en Tauride, Gluck), and Mary Warren (The Crucible, Ward). Orchestral repertoire includes Brahms, Mozart, Händel, Bach, Beethoven, Debussy, Mahler, Canteloube, Monteverdi, Bernstein, and Zarzuela arias and duets.
Dr. McCann has taught voice for 25 years. Academically she teaches Applied Voice, Lyric Diction, Vocal technique for Music Theater and Performance Practicum. She has also maintained private studios in NYC, Berlin, Cincinnati and San Diego. She is on faculty at the prestigious American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS), in Graz, Austria. Dr. McCann is beginning her second term as president of NATS-NYC chapter and served on the Board of Directors for the New York Singing Teacher’s Association (NYSTA), for over a decade.
