Bio: Christine Beck Hassevoort has performed several operatic roles, including Fiordiligi (Cosi fan Tutte), Belinda in Dido and Aeneas (Chattanooga State Community College), Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro, Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte, Sally in Die Fledermaus, the Sandman and Dew Fairy in Hansel and Gretel, Isabel in The Pirates of Penzance, and Kate Pinkerton and Cousin in Madama Butterfly (Chattanooga Symphony & Opera). She made her operatic debut as Siebel in Gounod’s Faust. Christine also has been a featured soloist twice with the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera’s Holiday Pops concert, as well as in several Pops in the Park concerts. She was a semifinalist in both the Orpheus National Vocal Competition and the Birmingham Opera Competition. She has soloed in many oratorio productions, including Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Haydn’s Creation, Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, Schubert’s Mass in G, Bach’s Coffee Cantata, John Rutter’s Requiem, and others. She has sung solo recitals and concerts at several area colleges, including the University of the South, Bryan College, Berry College, Lee University, and North Greenville University. Ms. Hassevoort was a soloist at the World Choral Festival in Seoul, South Korea. She has also soloed with Choral Arts of Chattanooga and appears in three of its recordings, including one with world-renowned jazz musician Dave Brubeck. Christine teaches voice and music classes at Chattanooga State Community College.
