Michelyn Wright: Biography

Michelyn Wright received her Honours Bachelor of Music Education, and an Artist's Performance Diploma from the University of Western Ontario then her Master of Music in Voice Performance at the Mannes College of Music in New York City. Michelyn has performed as a soloist with the Guelph Chamber Choir, the Kitchener Waterloo Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Operetta Theatre, and as a chorister with the Canadian Opera Company Chorus. Roles include, Mademoiselle Silberklang, Der Schauspieldirektor; Despina, Così fan tutte; Nannetta, Falstaff; Josephine, H.M. S. Pinafore; Arsena, The Gypsy Baron and the title role of Handel's Agrippina. Michelyn has been an active Voice Teacher and Vocal/Choral Adjudicator in Ontario. Her students have be finalists at the OMFA Provincials, NATS Chapter Auditions and various festivals in the GTA. Michelyn has been an Artist Educator with the Canadian Opera Company Education Department and the Vocal Music Director for the Unionville Theatre Company. As a member of the Ontario Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, Michelyn is a past V. P. of Special Projects, where she created the Workshop, "Making the Cut". Currently, Michelyn and is teaching as a Sessional Lecturer for the Music Education Department of the University of Toronto. She has been the NATS Ontario Chapter Auditions Coordinator since 2007, and runs an active voice studio in Markham, Ontario.
