Soprano Ellen Allen is a seasoned and passionate educator with a thriving teaching studio north of Boston. She has over a decade of teaching and performing experience, and a wealth of knowledge about both the classical and musical theater styles and repertory. Geared primarily toward teens and adults, Ellen's teaching approach is rooted in healthy, foundational technique, but is tailored to the needs and goals of each student. Her aim as a teacher is to help her students build both skill and confidence for practice and performance. In addition to voice lessons, Ellen also offers dramatic coaching/audition prep, in which students learn how to take dramatic cues straight from the music for an authentic and confident performance.
Ellen holds a Master of Music in Voice and a Teaching Artist Certificate from the Longy School of Music of Bard College, and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance, summa cum laude, from Gordon College.
Ellen has appeared as a soloist with many Boston-area ensembles, including Triad: Boston's Choral Collective, the MetroWest Choral Artists, Calliope, the MIT Women's Chorale, the Harvard Early Music Society, and the Freisinger Chamber Orchestra. She currently sings with Triad: Boston's Choral Collective and serves as the ensemble's Artistic Vice President. Ellen is also a certified holistic wellness coach with additional training in nutrition. In her practice, she works with both singers and non-singers, helping them to develop and maintain healthy food lifestyles, lower their stress levels, and boost immunity naturally.
