Mezzo-soprano Megan Gebert holds Bachelor of Music degrees in vocal performance and music education from Ithaca College, NY and a Master of Music degree in vocal performance from the University of Louisville, KY. She has performed operatic roles both in the United States and in Europe, and has also maintained an active performance calendar as a solo jazz artist. Praised as a singer who “effortlessly wraps you around her wonderful voice” with “incredible instincts and an understanding of the lyric,” Megan has been bringing her knowledge and experience of both pedagogy and performance to her studio teaching since 2007. Megan’s students encompass a wide range of age and ability levels, from from teenage students to adults and beginners to advanced singers. Although many of her students have gone on to pursue music careers at top universities, her students include those who wish to study voice professionally, and those who study simply for their own enjoyment. Regardless of age/ability level, Megan’s teaching is grounded in the fundamentals of vocal pedagogy and of classical technique. She helps each student reach his/her potential through careful continued assessment, crafting each lesson in a way that will allow students to achieve their individual goals. In addition to her studio teaching, Megan is on the Adjunct Voice Faculty at Russell Sage College and the Emma Willard School, both in Troy, NY.
