Bio: Tara Nixon, MM, MS, CCC-SLP, is a senior clinical singing voice specialist and speech-language pathologist at Duke Voice Care Center, and independent voice teacher from her studio in Durham, NC. She received her Bachelor’s degree in music from New College of Florida and dual Master’s degrees in vocal performance and speech-language pathology from Appalachian State University. Passionate about sharing vocal health knowledge with singers from all walks of life, Nixon frequently presents on various aspects of singing voice rehabilitation and has performed professionally as classical soprano, jazz vocalist, and blues chanteuse. In 2017, Nixon was chosen to participate in the NATS Intern Program in Toronto, and in 2018 was elected to serve as Treasurer for the Pan American Vocology Association (PAVA). In addition to her involvement in NATS and PAVA, Nixon is also an active member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and the Voice and Speech Trainers Association (VASTA).
