Title: Suzuki Voice Teacher
Bio: Maura O’Halloran is a Suzuki Voice Teacher who specializes in teaching students of all ages how to use their voice as an instrument -- how to care for that instrument, how to warm it up, how to "tune" it by adjusting posture or releasing tension. Melodies and rhythms are taught in a fun way through games using figures, balls, balloons, cars, light fabrics and movement. Each lesson is tailored to the specific age and gender of the child. Ms. O’Halloran not only teaches school-age children, but younger children and toddlers as well. Good vocal technique and musicianship starts when children are young! Ms. O’Halloran is a registered member of both the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA) and the European Suzuki Association (ESA). She trained in the Suzuki Voice Method in Finland with Suzuki Voice founder Dr. Päivi Kukkamäki. Ms. O’Halloran studied Voice at DePaul University with Norman Gulbrandsen. She holds a B.A. from St. John’s College where she studied music with the composer Lawrence Cave. Other voice teachers have included: Mette Heikkinen (Finland), Elsa Charlston (Chicago), Patricia Martinez (Chicago), Candace Magner (New Mexico).
