Bio: Amanda Kristin Cox currently serves as Assistant Professor of Voice and Director of Lyric Theatre at Houghton University. This is her eighth year directing the Lyric Theatre program, and she has directed twenty-one shows so far, including Emma; She Loves Me; Alice by Heart; Our Town; La Serva Padrona; Little Women; The Pirates of Penzance!; Almost Maine; Art (Yasmina Reza); Pyramus & Thisbe: The Musical (Drew Bundy); The Last Five Years, and Oklahoma! Amanda also maintains an active career as an actor. She made her off-Broadway debut in February 2020 as Mrs. Patrick in A Man of No Importance with Bookworm Theatrics at the Alvin Ailey Theatre in Manhattan. In the past few years, Amanda filmed lead roles in a feature film, Through Eyes of Grace (releasing 2025) and in twelve short films, including: Stuck on the Corner of Hope, Lambkin, Dear Hallmark, Theo’s Tears, Bright Future, and Happy Anniversary. In 2022, Amanda appeared in two episodes of true-crime series for the ID Network: Evil Lives Here: Shadows of Death and On the Case with Paula Zahn. Amanda’s stage roles include Joanne in Vanities and Marmee in Little Women at Bristol Valley Theatre, Cathy in The Last Five Years and Elizabeth Bennet in Pride@Prejudice with the Palmer Opera House, Guenevere in Camelot and Jess in The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged) with Bookworm Theatrics, Amalia in She Loves Me and M’Lynn in Steel Magnolias with The Valley Theatre, and Cinderella in Into the Woods, Maria in The Sound of Music, and Juliet in Romeo & Juliet with The Town Theatre of Short Tract. Amanda holds degrees from the University of Miami and Houghton University. She and her wonderful husband Mike have two precious children, Evelyn and Grayson.
