Bio: Ron Boucher has been a voice instructor and coach since 1997, preluded by an illustrious singing career. Although his work with children and youth has been most notable, he has a long list of adult students as well. Mr. Boucher offers 45 min lessons for intermediate to advance singers and 30 min lesson for beginners. Lessons include 20 min of vocal exercises and the remainder using song to apply technique. Mr. Boucher technique allows students find the genre of music (pop, country, jazz or classical) that best relates to them. However, he does use musical theater repertoire to apply and reinforce technique. His philosophy when working with students is to use the principles of “SPEECH LEVEL SINGING” to allow for the natural placement of the voice, still using singing technique to insure healthy development of the voice. Mr. Boucher’s students continue to place in prestigious university and college vocal and musical theater programs such as NY University, Carnegie Mellon, Elon, Manhattan School of Music and many others. Several students entered the profession transitioning from studio training to professional companies and are performing in operas, on Broadway and national touring shows, major cruise ships and theme parks. In addition, his students have won professional competitions. Mr. Boucher was the founder of the Eastern Virginia School for the Performing Arts. From 1993 -2019 he served as the overall administrative director, overseeing the schools theater/voice divisions, and taught voice, acting and choreography. Mr. Boucher's performance credits include both classical, musical theater singing and dancing. He began his performing career at the age of 15, dancing in operas and musicals throughout New England. In fall of 1976, he made his New York debut as a principal character with the New York City Opera written and directed by Gian-Carlo Menotti's in his production of THE SAINT OF BLEECKER STREET. In 1979, he was featured in the Metropolitan Opera's PBS broadcast production of OTELLO with Placido Domingo. In 1983, Mr. Boucher appeared in the Connecticut Grand Opera's production of DON PASQUALE, directed by Christopher Renshaw from Covent Gardens. Among his credits are operas such as ABDUCTION FROM THE SERAGLIO, AIDA, CARMEN, LA BOHEME and LA GIOCONDA. Mr. Boucher earned his Actor’s Equity membership in his Broadway debut with the Prince Street Players Production of ALICE IN WONDERLAND, which also included a national tour performing with major symphony orchestras through a grant received by the National Endowment for the Arts. Although retired from the professional stage, Mr. Boucher has appeared in several CAPA Fund productions. He originated the role of Herr Drosselmeyer with the Youth American Ballet Company with note-worthy reviews for 15 years. He has also performed as Fagin in the 2006 production of Oliver with the American Youth Players. His musical direction and choreography credits include; Rutherford Wolf, Alice & Wonderland, Emperor’s New Clothes, King & I, Music Man, Wizard of Oz, Oliver, Annie, Sound of Music and You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown.
