Bio: With a voice described as "richly resonant", mezzo-soprano Eileen Christiansen is a Boston-based singer of oratorio, opera, and art song. Ms. Christiansen has performed as a soloist with the Masterworks Chorale, The Falmouth Chorale and Orchestra, Wellesley Choral Society, Polymnia Choral Society, The Boston Cecilia, the Belmont Open Sings, and the Salisbury Singers. In recent years, she has sung the roles of Carmen in the Bizet adaptation "The Tragedy of Carmen", The Mother in Menotti's "Amahl and the Night Visitors", Dido in Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas", Jaffett in Benjamin Britten's miracle play "Noye's Fludde", and the Mother in Gabriella Snyder's one act opera "The Rough-Face Girl: An Algonquin Cinderella Story". Her notable concert solo performances include Britten's Ceremony of Carols, Handel's Messiah, Mozart's Requiem, Beethoven's Mass in C-Major, M. Haydn's Requiem, Adams' Grand Pianola Music, Charpentier's Messe de Minuit pour Nöel, and Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass and Paukenmesse. She had the pleasure of participating as an apprentice in the inaugural year of the Vermont Music and Arts Center's vocal apprenticeship program in 2014. Eileen leads a flourishing vocal studio in Melrose, MA that serves beginning to intermediate level students who range in age from middle school to adult students. As a teacher, Eileen focuses on developing healthy technique and musical expression in classical, musical theater, and pop/folk styles. She also provides instruction to increase sight singing and aural skills, to improve presentation in auditions and competitions, and to prepare high school students for undergraduate level auditions.
