Title: Instructor of Music and Director of Choral Activities
Bio: Soprano Emily Alvarez is Instructor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Lakeland University in Plymouth, WI where she directs the Lakeland Choir, and teaches aural skills, diatonic harmony, and applied voice. Previously she was Instructor of Music at Silver Lake College in Manitowoc, Wisconsin teaching private lessons, lyric diction, vocal pedagogy, music theory, and opera workshop. Mrs. Alvarez holds a MM in Vocal Performance from Southern Illinois University where she performed two full roles: the Wife in Richard Wargo’s The Music Shop and Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus. In addition, Mrs. Alvarez was featured as a soprano soloist in numerous concert, oratorio, and choral settings. While completing a BA in Music at Luther College, Mrs. Alvarez sang the world premier of the soprano solo in Stephen Paulus’ Luther Mass at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Along with her work as a classical singer and educator, Mrs. Alvarez has experience in musical theater performance and pedagogy, choral music education, and church music.
