Soprano Phoebe Gildea has been praised for her vibrant voice, honest acting, and engaging stage presence. She has performed with opera companies including Eugene Opera, Cascadia Concert Opera, the Astoria Music Festival, and more. Also an active recitalist, Phoebe has performed solo concerts of art song, musical theater, and opera repertoire for the Shedd Institute “The Shedd Presents” series in Jacqua Concert Hall, the Junction City Arts Council, and the Historic Old Church (Portland, OR), among others. Phoebe holds a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance from Chapman University and has been selected to participate in prestigious training programs such as OperaWorks Winter Intensive, the Astoria Music Festival Vocal Apprentice Program, and the American Institute of Music Studies (Austria). Also an accomplished pianist, she is a 2016 Paderewski medal recipient from the National Guild of Piano Teachers of the American College of Musicians.
As a teacher, Phoebe approaches each singer as a whole person, including the entire body and mind as well as the voice. In addition to vocal technique, lessons can include piano skills, work on use of the body and alignment, mindset techniques, and/or music theory. Phoebe uses her own experience overcoming intense performance anxiety to help students of all ages and abilities reach their goals.
