Bio: This 2017/18 season, sees mezzo-soprano Solmaaz Adeli debut and tour her curated program Latin Lovers, from Stanford for the Bing Music Series, to the Santa Cruz Chamber Players concert series, to Ajijic, Mexico, and to Princeton for Salon 33 in a wonderfully diverse program from Vivaldi, to Berlioz, to Bésame Mucho. ​ An accomplished opera and concert singer, her highlights during the past two seasons include a performance of the Austrian and American National Anthems for the US Embassy of Vienna's Independence Day Celebration for an audience of 3,000, people, a SongFest Fellowship for the 2017 Winter Intensive working with Graham Johnson, Sir Thomas Allen, and Susanne Mentzer, a debut of Gluck's Orfeo with the Virtuosi Summer Music Festival in Connecticut, as well as Ravel's Concepción in L'Heure Espagnole in a collaboration with the Opera Academy of California and Island City Opera. ​ In the 2016/17 season she debuted the West Coast premiere of Norwegian composer Kim André Arnesen's Requiem and together with the Santa Cruz Chamber Players gave the world premiere of Dolcissime Suite by Grammy Award Winning Barry Phillips. ​ Ms. Adeli has already performed in many of the world's most prestigious concert houses, from Carmen arias at the Vienna State Opera's Marmorsaal, to newly composed I Breathed a Song by Christopher J. Hoh in the Brahms-Saal at the Wiener Musikverein, to Vivaldi arias at the Palais Belvedere in Vienna, and Bach’s B-minor Mass with the Capella Leopoldina at the Mausoleum in Graz. She sang Christmas music alongside members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Janoska Ensemble for Austria’s Licht ins Dunkel 2013 campaign, and they recorded White Christmas on Austrian National Television together on Christmas Eve. Her performance of the American National Anthem for the US Embassy of Vienna's 10th Commemoration Ceremony of 9/11 was also broadcast on ORF TV. An avid performer of Contemporary music, in the 2011/12 season Ms. Adeli created the title role in François Pierre Descamp’s new opera Zumurrud and the role of Subaida in Rene Clemencic’s new opera Harun und Djafar with the Sirene Operntheater at the Vienna Chamber Music Festival under director Kristine Tornquist.​ ​ Solmaaz Adeli gave her operatic debut at the Vienna Chamber Opera 2010/11 season as Flora in Tomaso Albinoni’s opera Il Nascimento dell’Aurora under the baton of René Clemencic and his Baroque ensemble Clemencic Consort. ​ Ms. Adeli holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and Earth Sciences from the University of California Santa Cruz and after a career in the sciences, decided to pursue a career in music. She went to Austria and received a scholarship to study at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Graz and was a fellow in Il corso di recitazione per cantanti lirici led by Turin's esteemed opera director Davide Livermore.
