Bio:

Matt Blanks currently serves as Voice Area Coordinator at Mars Hill University, where his duties include teaching applied voice, lyric diction, vocal pedagogy, vocal literature, and opera workshop. He has appeared in recitals at MHU in 2022 and 2023.

Mr. Blanks has performed throughout the country as an opera singer and tenor soloist. Highlights include Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor with Main Street Opera in Chicago, IL, Henrik in A Little Night Music with St. Pete Opera in St. Petersburg, FL, Charlie in Brigadoon with Music By The Lake in Wisconsin, Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance with various opera companies, and Tenor Soloist in Messiah with Paderewsky Symphony. He most recently appeared as Laurie in Little Women at Haywood Arts Regional Theatre (HART) and Vic in Sisters of Swing with Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre. Mr. Blanks is at home music directing as well as teaching and performing. He held a post as music director of Etowah United Methodist Church, where he accompanied services on the organ and managed the choir program and music ministry. He had his theatrical music directing debut Big Fish for HART this past season. Mr. Blanks runs Soaring Sounds Voice Studio and is pursuing Estill Voice Training certification. Previous appointments include adjunct work at North Park University, Dominican University, and Chicago High School for the Arts.
