Bio: Stephanie Kreutz, soprano, teaches voice out of her home in Jamaica Plain. Stephanie specializes in musical theater, classical, and opera styles, though she has also teaches pop styles. She has a passion for passing her love of music to her students, and she has taught beginner through advanced students from age seven through adult. Using a somatic approach, she aims for her students to become confident performers who use a healthy technique to produce a beautiful, free sound and to communicate through music. She motivates her students to enjoy the process of finding their best sound and to feel pride in their improvements. A native of San Diego, she received her Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music and her Bachelors in Music and English at Tufts University. Stephanie has extensive performing experience. Her opera roles include the Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Angela in Patience, Mistress of the Novices in Suor Angelica, Miss Jessel in Turn of the Screw, and The Mother in Hänsel und Gretel. Musical theater roles include Josephine "Ma" Strong in Urinetown and Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast. Stephanie also works as a director and choreographer. Shows she has directed include Mozart's The Impresario and Gilbert and Sullivan's Ruddigore. In Boston she founded Boston Patio Playhouse, a youth theater company with summer programs in opera and musical theater for advanced middle and high school students. Stephanie has had young students perform in shows at places such as Wheelock Family Theatre, Reagle Music Theatre, SpeakEasy Stage Company, and Fiddlehead Theatre Company. Her students have been featured soloists with the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra. Many of her students have also been featured in roles and leads at their schools and in after-school theater programs.
