Title: Lecturer of Music
Bio: Sean Stephenson, tenor, holds the M.M. in Vocal Performance from The University of Missouri at Kansas City. During his time at Millikin University in Decatur, IL he performed for three years with the internationally renowned University Choir, touring across the United States and throughout east Asia. Sean also performed with the early music ensemble Tudor Voices and was involved in numerous opera productions until he ultimately received his B.M. in Vocal Performance, graduating Summa Cum Laude.
In demand as a chorister, Sean has populated ensembles across the country, often in a position of leadership. Notable appearances include Résonance, Colorado Bach Ensemble, American Bach Soloists, Seicento Baroque Ensemble, The Ursa Consort, Colorado Masterworks Chorus, Opera Fort Collins and Opera Omaha. Recent solo performances include The title role in Candide with UNC Opera Theatre, Tonio in Daughter of the Regiment with Opera Fort Collins, Ramiro (cover) in Rossini’s La Cenerentola with Opera Fort Collins, and Basilio/Curzio in Le Nozze di Figaro with Boulder Symphony. Sean is currently pursuing a Doctor of Arts in Voice Performance at the University of Northern Colorado, where he served as Teaching Assistant in the Voice Area. Sean is currently a Lecturer of Music at Central College in Pella, Iowa, where he leads the voice area and teaches applied lessons, vocal pedagogy, lyric diction, and music history.
