Bio: John St. Marie is a versatile musician, conductor, and teacher. He holds Bachelor degrees from Loyola University in Music Therapy and Voice, a Master of Music degree in Conducting Performance from California State University, Fullerton, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Choral Music from the University of Southern California. He served as Director of Choirs at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts from 2010 until 2017 and as staff at Mount San Antonio College in the acclaimed Vocal/Choral program. Dr. St. Marie served as the Interim Director of Choral Studies and coordinated Vocal studies in the 2010/11 academic year at California State University, Los Angeles. An avid church conductor and singer, he has served as tenor soloist in renouned music programs including St. Alban’s Epicsopal Church (Westwood, CA) and La Cañada Presbyterian Church and as Director of Music Ministries at Irvine United Congregational Church and Vallejo Drive Seventh Day Adventist. A feature presenter at both the California Music Education Association and the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts Education Series, Dr. St. Marie is in demand as an adjudicator and clinician in choral and vocal festivals, competitions, and honor choirs. John is a frequent soloist in the Los Angeles and San Francisco areas and has garnered critical acclaim for his versatile, impassioned performances. As a featured soloist, John has been heard in numerous master works including Bach’s St. John Passion, Mass in B-minor, and Magnificat, Handel’s Messiah and Chandos Anthems, Vaughan Williams’ Hodie and Mass in G Minor, Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, Mass in C, and Ninth Symphony, Haydn’s Missa in angustiis and Die Schöpfung, and Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Conversion of St. Paul with noted music organizations including the Pacific Symphony, Musica Angelica, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Pacific Chorale, De Angelis Vocal Ensemble, Los Angeles Chamber Singers, Millennium Consort Singers, San Fernando Valley Master Chorale, Opera Pacific, Mountainside Master Chorale and various high-profile church music programs. John has performed solo work both nationally and internationally and his vocal talents can be heard on numerous movie soundtracks, popular video games and Grammy Nominated classical and pop music albums.
