David Myers, Jr.

Tenor David Myers, Jr. performs throughout New England, receiving praise for his “beautifully polished tone” and “attractive tenor sound” by music critic Allan Kozinn. Since moving from Maryland to Maine in 2008, he has sung with the Southern Maine Symphony Orchestra, the Mozart Mentors Orchestra, and the Colby Symphony Orchestra, and he has been featured as a soloist with such ensembles as Down East Singers, Bowdoin Chorus, Rachmaninoff Choir, Lincoln Festival Chorus, Sheepscot Valley Chorus, St. Cecilia Chamber Choir, Colby College Chorale, University of Southern Maine Chorale, White Mountain Bach Festival Chorus, and Nativity Lutheran Church Chorus. In addition to freelance performing, David is a member of St. Mary Schola, Maine's premier professional early music ensemble. David is the choir director at North Yarmouth Congregational Church in North Yarmouth, Maine, where he also teaches voice, placing special emphasis on healthy singing technique in all musical styles. He obtained his bachelor's degree in music education from Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Maryland, and he earned his Master's Degree in vocal pedagogy from the School of Music at the University of Southern Maine where he studied voice with the late esteemed soprano Ellen Chickering. David is an active member of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) and the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) as well as an associate member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS).
