Bio: Freda McNair Goodman began studying voice at the age of sixteen in Birmingham, Alabama, with a great desire to perform on stage someday. Upon graduation from Birmingham-Southern College with a Bachelor of Music Degree in vocal performance, she received her Master of Music degree from Florida State University.
Upon graduation from FSU, she entered and was awarded second place in the prestigious Palm Beach Operatic Scholarship contest. As a result of the Palm Beach Operatic Scholarship contest,she received a solo operatic performance contract from the Vienna State Opera in Vienna, Austria. For the next fifteen years, Freda performed in various opera houses in Austria and Germany as coloratura soprano soloist, studying and being coached by prominent conductors and vocal coaches of Austria and Germany.
Freda, her husband, Gary and daughter, Kari, returned to the United States in July 2000. It was then that Freda began to teach. She taught voice and Music Appreciation at Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC; New Mexico State University Alamogordo, and is presently at NorthWest Arkansas Community College. Freda continues to teach online Music Appreciation with New Mexico State University.
It is Freda's desire to share her passion of music to her students and to all who are interested in the world of music.
