Bio:
Elizabeth McDonald is a Canadian soprano, voice teacher, and arts career facilitator based in Prince Edward County, Ontario. As a faculty member at the University of Toronto, she teaches applied voice to undergraduate and graduate students and leads the second-year voice performance course, Topics in Performance Studies. Her students have achieved significant success, winning prestigious awards including the Metropolitan Opera National Council Competition, the Canadian Opera Company Centre Stage Competition, and the Eckhardt-Gramatté Competition. They have been accepted into young artists programs at the Canadian Opera Company, the Metropolitan Opera Lindeman Program, the Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist at LA Opera, and Vancouver and Calgary Opera.
Beyond her teaching, Elizabeth was a co-founder of the trio Women on the Verge, dedicated to promoting Canadian female composers and exploring women's experiences through music. She also co-founded (now closed) em2CONNECT, a creative facilitation and coaching practice that supported artists and arts organizations in building sustainable and expressive careers. She is a past president of NATS Ontario Chapter and a 2011 NATS Intern.
Elizabeth holds a Master of Music from the Eastman School of Music and a Bachelor of Music in Performance from the University of Toronto. She has performed with notable ensembles including the National Ballet of Canada Orchestra and the Canadian Opera Company, and the Santa Fe Opera.
