Matthew La Rochelle has been a passionate singer since his youth. He has extensive experience of many genres including musicals, choirs, rock bands, worship services, and operas. Some notable roles include the title roles in Don Giovanni and The Marriage of Figaro, Belcore (L’elisir d’amore), Ko-Ko (The Mikado), John Sorel (The Consul), Pippin, Audrey 2 (Little Shop of Horrors), and Curly (Oklahoma).
Mr. La Rochelle has been teaching voice privately for seven years. He holds a Master’s degree in vocal performance from the University of Arizona, and a Bachelor’s degree from San Jose State University. He teaches the individual processes of healthy vocal projection in the bel canto style of singing. His lessons include exercises in musicianship, character development, and stylistically appropriate interpretations while encouraging good vocal habits. He is dedicated to the success of his students and strives to equip them for the rigorous demands of a professional career in music.
