Title: SFCM Executive Chair and Professor of Voice

Bio: Richard Cox is the Executive Chair and Professor of Voice at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Additionally, he is on the voice faculty of the Metropolitan Opera Lindemann Young Artist Development Program and the San Francisco Opera Center Merola and Adler Fellowship Programs. Mr. Cox has worked with singers at Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Festival Napa Valley, the University of North Florida, Westminster Choir College, Arizona State University, Tucson Desert Song Festival, and TU Dublin Conservatoire. Previously, he served on the voice and coaching faculty of the Bard College Conservatory of Music Graduate Vocal Arts Program (VAP) and was the Vocal Consultant for the Detroit Opera Resident Artist Program. American tenor Richard Cox has appeared in many distinguished opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Los Angeles Opera, Washington National Opera, Teatro Municipal de Santiago, Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, Glimmerglass Festival, The Wexford Festival Opera, Sächsische Staatsoper Dresden, and Oper Frankfurt. An accomplished concert singer and recitalist, Mr. Cox has appeared as the tenor soloist in Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde (Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Tucson Symphony Orchestra); Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 (Seattle Symphony, National Symphony Orchestra); with the Collegiate Chorale and Orchestra of St. Luke's at Carnegie Hall; American Symphony Orchestra; and made his New York recital debut on the Marilyn Horne Foundation’s On Wings of Song recital series.
