Bio:

Alison is a singer, actor, teacher and owner of Alison Dawn Voice & Music, located in Rothesay and Riverview New Brunswick, specializing in vocal performance, piano lessons and early childhood music education. The studio also runs weekly singing classes and summer camps for students ages 5 to 13. A graduate of the York University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Specialized Honours in Classical Voice and a Bachelor of Education, as well as the Randolph College for the Arts in Musical Theatre, Alison’s diverse training and professional performance experience make her a dynamic and engaging performer and educator. Alison was given the opportunity throughout her education to work with such esteemed teachers as Norma Burrowes, Dr. Michael Donovan, Catherine Robbin, Stephanie Bogle, and Stephanie Martin.

Alison has performed as a soloist and section lead at Toronto’s renowned Metropolitan United Church under the direction of Dr. Patricia Wright, with whom she also performed with members of the Toronto Symphony as a soloist in Bach’s Jesu Der du Meine Seele. Throughout her Toronto years, Alison could frequently be heard performing with York University Chamber and Concert Choirs as a chorister and soloist under the baton of Dr. Lisette Canton. Her favourite performances include CPE Bach’s Magnificat, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, Bach’s St. John Passion, and Mozart’s Mass in C Major. Alison also embarked on a European tour with the York University Chamber Choir in 2015, where she performed at the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate, as well as at St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice. Locally, Alison has performed with Colla Voce in Schubert’s Stabat Mater, and Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols.

As a musical theatre performer, Alison’s credits are vast. Favourite recent performances include Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors and Sophie Sheridan in Mamma Mia! Both with the Saint John Theatre Company; and Angelina in Vital Theatre Company’s production of Angelina Ballerina: The Musical! Now based permanently in Rothesay, NB, Alison spends most of her time enriching the next generation of young singers through her voice studio Alison Dawn Voice & Music, as well as in music classes for children aged 5 months to 12 years. Her studio is also home to a staff of eight teachers, who teach singing and piano lessons, as well as general music and singing classes. Alison can also be seen performing in local community concerts and has also served as a judge at Saint John Idol.

Alison is currently serving as the VP for Studio Development for the CAP NATS chapter.
