Jing Sturgis-Lin

Jing, a native of China, is a versatile performer who is equally at home on the opera and musical stage. The roles include Galatea in the BGSU production of Acis and Galatea, and Paggio in a concert production of Rigoletto with Plácido Domingo at the Reignwood Theater in Beijing, China in 2010. In 2005, Jing joined the cast of Butterflies Musical in the leading role of Zhu Ying Tai under the musical direction of San Bao and stage direction of Gilles Maheu. She has performed with various musical companies in China, including: Poly Theater of China in Beijing, Dongguan Yulan Theater in Guang Zhou, and the Globe Theater in Harbin. She is also the Second Prize winner of 2011 Lotte Lenya Competition, the recipient of the Ralph Appelman Award, a first place winner of the Great Lakes Regional NATS Competition, and the winner of the 10th annual Dr. Majorie Conrad Peatee Art Song Competition. Jing started her private voice studio in 2006, and has been enjoying since then. Praise the Lord, her students were accepted by Berklee College of Music, New England Conservatory of Music, Manhattan School of Music, University of Michigan, Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, UNT (Jazz Vocal), UCLA, NYU, UT, etc. with scholarships. Jing Lin Sturgis hosts a Master of Music in Voice Performance degree under the tutelage of professor Myra Merritt from Bowling Green State University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance from Renmin University of China in Beijing. In her spare time, she really likes designing/making things (e.g. table, barn door, front garden display) and doing crafts :)
