Bio:

Liz Townsend is a vocalist, voice instructor, arranger, clinician, and adjudicator based in Denton, TX. She is currently working on her DMA in Jazz Voice at the University of North Texas. Prior to starting her doctorate, she served as an adjunct professor of voice at Western Michigan University, Southwest Michigan College, and Kalamazoo College. Liz is well-versed in many vocal styles including jazz, classical, musical theatre, and pop.

​Liz holds a Masters of Music in Jazz Vocal Performance from Western Michigan University (WMU) where she studied with Greg Jasperse. She also holds a Bachelor's degree in Choral Music Education from WMU, where she studied classical voice with Dr. Rhea Olivaccé. In her teaching, Liz employs the techniques from Somatic Voicework™ - The LoVetri Method, Estill Voice Training, and Maddie Tarbox's Voice Function 101. Liz is a member of the Jazz Education Network (JEN), National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), The Voice Foundation, and Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society.
