Bio: With extensive training in opera, classical music, musical theater, and choral works, soprano Shannon Gallagher Doerzbacher has performed leading and supporting roles with The Italian Operatic Experience; Opera in the Ozarks; Pittsburgh Musical Theater; Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera; The University of North Texas; and, Wheaton College Conservatory of Music. Her oratorio engagements have included works sung under noted conductors John Nelson and Robert Page. Shannon holds a Master of Music degree in Voice Performance Summa Cum Laude from The University of North Texas, and attained a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance Magna Cum Laude from Wheaton College Conservatory of Music. Further studies have taken her to OperaWorks in Los Angeles; Oberlin Conservatory Institute of Voice Performance Pedagogy with Richard Miller; and, The Goethe Institute in Munich, Germany. A finalist in National Association of Teachers of Singing competitions of Chicago, Dallas, and Fort Worth, Shannon is the winner of the Mary Prudie Brown Scholarship for Continued Study at Opera in the Ozarks and the Jack Roberts Memorial Opera Scholarship at The University of North Texas. She has been a member of the prestigious honors society for musicians, Pi Kappa Lambda, since 2009. Realizing her passion for ensuring the growth and impact of visual and musical platforms, Shannon made a successful transition from full-time performance to artistic administration in 2012, and subsequently served as the Executive/Artistic Operations Assistant at Artis—Naples until 2017. Shannon maintains an active performance schedule, most recently including engagements with the Southwest Florida Symphony, the Symphonic Chorale of Southwest Florida, and ONcore of Opera Naples. Most of all, she enjoys serving in her church’s music ministry as a member of the vocal roster, chorale, and choir. Shannon has been invited to lead masterclasses and workshops in vocal technique, acting for singers, performance anxiety, and audition technique at various organizations including Opera Naples and The Naples Music Club. She has adjudicated the classical voice division of the Southwest Florida Young Artist Awards and was on staff at The Music Studio of Naples. Having run a private voice studio since 2010, Shannon considers teaching one of her greatest privileges. She specializes in the genres of musical theatre, opera, classical, jazz, pop, and choral music. Her students can be seen and heard performing a variety of styles in venues around the world. Shannon is a professional member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, Southeast Region.
