Bio:

Hyunjung Choi is an award-winning lyrical soprano from South Korea, celebrated for her expressive tone and brilliant high register. She has earned top honors at several prestigious international competitions, including First Prize at the American International Music Competition and First Prize in the Korean regional round of the Osaka International Music Competition, where she also received the Espoir Special Prize in the finals. In addition to these accolades, she has distinguished herself in numerous other vocal competitions, further solidifying her reputation as an exceptional and versatile artist.

Mrs. Choi holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in music from institutions in Korea and completed a diploma in choral conducting at the Civica Scuola delle Arti in Rome, Italy. She continued her advanced vocal training in the United States, earning a Master of Music degree from the Mannes School of Music in New York and an Artist Diploma from Montclair State University.

Her performance credits span major sacred works and opera. As a soprano soloist, she has performed in Haydn’s The Creation, Rossini’s Stabat Mater, and Handel’s Messiah. Her operatic repertoire includes standout roles such as Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, and Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte. She made her New York debut as Laoula in L’étoile, and in New Jersey, she has appeared as Mère Jeanne in Dialogues des Carmélites at the Alexander Kasser Theater, Nannetta in Verdi’s Falstaff, and most notably, as Violetta in La Traviata at Leshowitz Hall.

Mrs. Choi was also selected as a Bach Specialist Scholar by SongFest, receiving the opportunity to study and perform the works of J.S. Bach in depth. Currently based in New York and New Jersey, she maintains an active performance schedule while also offering private voice lessons, drawing from her extensive teaching experience and dedication to nurturing young talent.
