Bio:

Bailey Bovenschen, Mezzo-Soprano, is a passionate vocalist with a love for bringing characters to life through music. Known for her expressive stage presence, Bovenschen’s performance credits include Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus), Martha Watson (White Christmas), The Witch (Into the Woods), Head Snake (Children of Eden), Madam Armfeldt (A Little Night Music), La Vecchia/Zita (Gianni Schicchi), Madame Wardrobe (Beauty and the Beast), and Morticia Addams (The Addams Family). In the summer of 2024, Bovenschen performed in Europe for the first time, attending the Wiener MusikSeminar in Vienna, Austria, where she received second place for her performance of “Que fais-tu, blanche tourterelle?” Later that fall, Bovenschen competed in the Leopold Bellan Competition, receiving first place in the Comedié Musical division.

In the summer of 2023, Bovenschen interned for the Kristin Chenoweth Broadway Bootcamp, learning and working alongside stars such as Michael Orland, Kevin Chamberlin, Faith Prince, Elizabeth Teeter, and Kristin Chenoweth.

While attending Oklahoma State University, Bovenschen presented her Master’s lecture-recital titled, “How I Got Into His Pants Role: A Guide to Performing the Opera Trouser Role,” where she performed 4 famous pants role arias to highlight the struggles cis-gendered women and AFAB individuals face when portraying male characters. She also premiered “Dot’s Aria” from the upcoming opera by Dr. Brant Adams, Cricket on the Hearth.

While attending Oklahoma City University, Bovenschen explored pushing the boundaries of type casting and performed in a “miscast” cabaret as Prince Topher from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. She presented two Senior recitals as well, with one focusing on Classical techniques while the other focused on Musical Theatre techniques.

Bovenschen received her Bachelor’s of Music in Musical Theatre and Vocal Performance from Oklahoma City University (’22), graduating with honors. She studied under Larry Keller and coached with Chuck Koslowske. She received her Master’s of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Oklahoma State University (’25). She studied under April Golliver-Mohiuddin and Anné-Marie Condacse, and she coached with Megan Barth Argo. Bailey Bovenschen has been an adjunct professor at Langston University for two years and a vocal instructor at the Greenwood School of Music Preparatory Academy at Oklahoma State University.
