Bio:

Alina Ilchuk is a Ukrainian-American soprano, voice pedagogue, and arts advocate. She currently serves as the Cal-Western Region Student NATS (SNATS) Coordinator, is an active board member of the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter, and previously served on the board of the California Capital Chapter.

In 1998, she founded the award-winning Sacramento Academy of Musical Arts. Her students have continued their studies at leading institutions including the Eastman School of Music, USC Thornton School of Music, the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, the Curtis Mentor Network, the Stanford Jazz Workshop, and the Merola Opera Program. They have also earned top honors in competitions such as the Mondavi Center Young Artists Competition, NATS Student Auditions, Schmidt Vocal Arts, and Hal Leonard. During the early 2000s, Ms. Ilchuk also helped establish and taught at the Slavic branch of Patten University in Sacramento, expanding access to higher education for immigrant communities.

Ms. Ilchuk made her professional debut in 1995 and has performed throughout Europe, the United States, and Canada. In recent years, her artistic work has centered on Ukrainian cultural advocacy and humanitarian initiatives. Highlights include a recital of Ukrainian composers for LiederAlive! with pianist Peter Grünberg, the Concert of Compassion alongside Frederica von Stade and Jake Heggie, a guest appearance with the U.S. Air Force Band of the Golden West, and a charity event benefiting the Olena Zelenska Foundation under the patronage of the Ukrainian Consulate in San Francisco. Over several years, she collaborated with the American-Ukrainian Catholic Education Foundation, helping raise support for the Ukrainian Catholic University in her native Lviv.

Ms. Ilchuk holds master's degrees in Music Education and Voice Performance from the Mykola Lysenko National Academy of Music in Lviv and California State University, Sacramento. She is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, the National Music Honor Society, and her scholarly contributions include ethnomusicological publications on the Ukrainian national instrument, the bandura.
