Style: Pop; Opera; Jazz; Folk; Classical; Musical Theatre
Bio: It is my mission to provide high quality voice instruction in a relaxed and supportive environment, specializing in middle and high school singers and adults of all ages who want to learn classical technique for a voice that has beauty and expression. Whether you like to sing pop, jazz, country, R&B, classical or musical theatre, you can benefit from private instruction and learn to sing with confidence, strength and style.
\nI received my B.M. in vocal performance from the University of Alaska, Anchorage and have done graduate work in vocal pedagogy at the Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia. I have been teaching private voice since 2003 and am a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. I am classically trained and have performed leading roles in operatic productions, but I also have a love of musical theatre and popular music. I have a Level III Certification in Somatic Voicework from the Institute for Contemporary and Commercial Music and have devoted much of my teaching to students who wish to belt and sing contemporary music in a healthy way. I feel very strongly that a student who studies privately should sing the music they like, not just what is good for them. While most teachers are trained in the Italian classics, many students have no interest in singing them. But students with popular taste deserve instruction, too!
