Bio: Daniel Hunter-Holly is a Professor of Music and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs of the College of Fine Arts at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. A NATS member since 2008, he has served as Auditions Chair for Texoma Region, South Texas District Governor, South Texas Chapter President, and South Texas Chapter Auditions Chair. In 2018, he was selected as an Emerging Leader for the Texoma Region by NATS. An active recitalist, having performed throughout North and Central America, he is also an acclaimed educator, receiving a University of Texas System Regents' Outstanding Teaching Award in 2015. He has performed as part of Albany Symphony’s American Music Festival and presented multimedia recitals of Schubert’s song cycles as well as other song programs inspired by visual art pieces. Recent presentations at international and national conferences include topics such as “Portraits: Character Development and Performance Outside an Opera’s Frame” (National Opera Association National Conference, 2024); “Pastiche Productions: Making Opera Personal for 21st Century Students” (National Opera Association National Conference, 2019; co-presenters Ann Baltz and David Ronis); “Projected Imagery in Opera” (National Opera Association National Conference, 2018; co-presenters Nic Muni and Buck Ross); “Assessment Tools for Applied Voice Teachers” (International Congress of Voice Teachers, 2017); and, “Incorporating Movement and Vocal Improvisation Training into the Undergraduate Voice Curriculum” (College Music Society National Conference, 2017; co-presenter Rebecca Coberly). This summer he will present “Three’s Company! Fostering Collaborative Learning Through Partner Lessons” at the International Congress of Voice Teachers in Toronto. He holds degrees from The Ohio State University, the University of North Carolina Greensboro, and the University of California Santa Barbara, with additional training at SongFest, OperaWorks, and the Fall Island Vocal Arts Seminar.
