Bio:

BRIAN BONIN, Assistant Chair in Fine Arts at Perimeter College-Georgia State University, has benefited from a sustained relationship with the touring company Peach State Opera. He most recently sang Alidoro in the company's production of Rossini's Cinderella (2017-18) and has also performed all of the Mozart/DaPonte operas with the company - the title role in Don Giovanni (2016), Guglielmo in Così fan tutte (2014) and Count Almaviva in The Marriage of Figaro (2012). In summer 2015, Brian performed Joseph DeRocher in Dead Man Walking for the Louisiana Concert Movement, with composer Jake Heggie and Sister Helen Prejean coaching the cast. He has also sung with the Lyric Opera Studio of Weimar (Germany), Opéra Louisiane, New Orleans Opera, Opera in the Ozarks, the Aspen Opera Theater Center, the Baisley Powell Elebash Opera Theater and LSU Opera Theater in roles such as Conte Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, Guglielmo in Così fan tutte, Schaunard in La bohème, Count Ceprano in Rigoletto, Junius in The Rape of Lucretia, Voltaire/Pangloss/Cacambo/Martin in Candide, King Melchior in Amahl and the Night Visitors, the Speaker in Die Zauberflöte, and Johann in Werther.

An avid art song interpreter, Brian has worked with pianist collaborators John Keene and Sandra Lutters, American art song interpreter Paul Sperry, and spiritual arranger Moses Hogan. Brian earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in vocal performance from Louisiana State University and currently serves as President for the Georgia chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
