Title: Private Voice Teacher
Bio: Students join Kimberly Moller's Vocal Studio to get help preparing for auditions, performances, sight-reading and choral music and strengthening their voice for other purposes in a warm, nurturing (air-conditioned!) environment. She specializes in CCM (Contemporary Commercial Music - Musical Theater, Jazz, Pop, Rock etc) and has an MFA in Musical Theatre at San Diego State University and an MM in (Classical) Vocal Performance as well as a Voice Pedagogy Graduate Diploma from Boston University. High school students join her studio in order to prep for college music program auditions. It is a place where college students can keep up their study maintain their vocal health and technique while in school if they are not voice majors or come home for the summer. Kimberly is stylistically open and helps students with repertoire from classical and musical theater to jazz and pop/contemporary rock styles. Other singers study with Kimberly because they find that music helps them to combat stress and strengthen their voice in the workplace. Kimberly provides a strong technique, and she helps her students develop a healthy belt based in speech and being present in the text, and helps them to be expressive musical artists and performers in any style. Singers will learn about releasing tension, breath, resonance, voice pedagogy and work on transitions between registers, develop strength and perform with confidence in addition to learning how to read music and be musical. Her instruction is based primarily on freeing the voice using a combination of methods applicable throughout the range that train the muscles and movements which create singing and can respond naturally to the impulse to communicate. The goal is a coordinated instrument that instinctively responds to your dramatic impulses, freeing you to express yourself or your character musically without having to be preoccupied with “working your technique” in performance. Taking creative risks is the most important part of satisfying yourself as an artist, and being able to do this with an integrated freedom in technique and therefore an unlimited, expressive instrument is the ultimate goal in singing. For most, it is a great cure for performance anxiety.
