Bio: Marlayna Maynard, praised for her “beautiful soprano voice with even range throughout”, is sought after as a performer, pedagogue, and scholar. She received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Memphis, and holds degrees from Bowling Green State University (MM) and Marshall University (BA). She has appeared as a soloist with the Memphis Symphony, the Memphis Repertory Orchestra, the Balmoral Chamber Orchestra, the Huntington Symphony, and the Lexington Baroque Consort. As a recitalist and chamber musician, she has been a guest of the Blue Lake Summer Arts Festival, the International Horn Symposium, the Ann Arbor Festival of Song, the Marshall University New Music Festival and the MUsic Alive series. She was recently the Interim Director of Vocal Studies at Radford University where she directed the opera workshop and taught diction for singers. She is certified by the Northwest Institute of Voice to teach the Blaylock Vocal Method, and is a member of the Speakeasy Cooperative. Her students have been recognized at NATS events for their outstanding achievements, including one recent national semifinalist. She has presented her research on historical sopranos at the Mid-Atlantic NATS regional conference. In her current position as owner of Inspiration Vocal Arts, LLC she teaches adults and teens in her studio in Nashville, TN and online.
