Soprano Catherine Abele Landry received a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance from the University of Manitoba under the tutelage of Canadian soprano, Tracy Dahl. She went on to earn Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in Voice from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), under the guidance of prominent American voice teacher, Barbara Honn. Dr. Abele Landry also holds a Bachelor of Education degree in Secondary Education from The King’s University, and she attended the world’s foremost school of German Lieder, the Franz-Schubert-Institut in Baden bei Wien, Austria. She was a district winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and took the top vocal prize at the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Competition. Performance highlights include John Greer’s Liebesleid-Lieder, with the composer at the piano; a concert entitled A Country House Weekend with The Aldeburgh Connection; chamber performances of Domenick Argento’s Six Elizabethan Songs and Lori Laitman’s I Never Saw Another Butterfly; collaborating as soloist with the Richard Eaton Singers in Handel’s Israel in Egypt, with the Enterprise String Quartet in Schoenberg’s String Quartet No. 2, Op. 10, with the Alberta Baroque Ensemble in Vivaldi's Dixit Dominus RV 595, and with Vocal Alchemy and the Alberta Baroque Ensemble in Mozart’s Coronation Mass, K. 317. Prior to moving to Moncton, New Brunswick from Edmonton, Alberta, Dr. Abele Landry taught at the post-secondary level (University of Alberta and The King’s University), instructing courses in Applied Voice, Lyric Diction and Vocal Pedagogy. She also enjoyed regularly serving as a vocal adjudicator and clinician in Western Canada and managing an active private voice studio. Dr. Abele Landry is currently on faculty at Mount Allison University, instructing Applied Voice and Vocal Pedagogy.
