Phyllis Horridge holds a Masters in Music from George Mason University, a Bachelors in Music with a minor in theatre from Lynchburg College in Virginia, and has been seen professionally both on stage and screen.
Phyllis has performed and toured extensively all over the country in prestigious venues as large as the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and with the Washington National Opera. She was selected to sing with the Rome Festival Opera, and performed Off-Broadway at the York Theatre Company, under the esteemed Broadway director, Michael Montel.
Phyllis has studied with many pioneers of Contemporary Commercial Music including Jeanie LoVetri, Elisabeth Howard, John Henny, and singer-songwriter Charlotte Martin. She is certified in Somatic Voicework (sm), and participated in the Summer Vocology Institute at The National Center for Voice and Speech. Phyllis has been actively involved in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), National Association for Music Education (NAfME), Actors Equity Association, and maintains membership in the Screen Actors Guild/American Federation of Television & Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA).
Phyllis is an award winning choir director, and served as adjudicator for events including the NATS Southern Region Musical Theatre Competition, Virginia Choral Directors Association District Festival, Louisiana State 4-H Talent Competition, and the Stafford County Choral Society Scholarship competition. In 2008, she served as resident musical director for the Beechwood Theatre Company in Newport, Rhode Island.
In the few years she has been in Louisiana, Phyllis has been a part of Theatre Baton Rouge, The Manship Theatre, New Venture Theatre, Red Magnolia Theatre Company, and Ascension Community Theatre, not to mention, seen in a Popeye's commercial.
