Bio: Praised for her “rich and beautiful voice” (Petoskey News-Review), soprano Erin M. Smith is quickly establishing herself as a versatile and dynamic performer throughout New England. As a sought after soprano soloist, her recent appearances include: Handel's Ode for Saint Cecilia's Day with Philips Exeter Academy Chorus and Orchestra, Mozart's Requiem with The Nashua Choral Society and the Granite State Choral Society, Handel’s Messiah with Chorus North Shore, Mozart’s Mass in C Minor with The Concord Chorale, Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 with The Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra, and the soprano soloist in Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem with Portsmouth Pro Musica. In addition to her extensive oratorio resume, Erin has performed Pops and operatic concerts with both the Hillyer Festival Orchestra and the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra. A frequent performer of opera, notable appearances include Adina in L’Elisir d’Amore with Opera Providence, Pamina in The Magic Flute with MetroWest Opera and Piccola Opera, Vixen in The Cunning Little Vixen with Boston Opera Collaborative, Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro with BayView Music Festival, Despina in Cosí fan Tutte with Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre, Donna Elvira in an Educational Tour of Don Giovanni with Cape Cod Opera, and more. Internationally, Erin has studied and performed in Italy and Austria. As an experienced music educator and professional singer, Erin M. Smith brings a great deal of experience with her when teaching voice. Erin has a great deal of experience in teaching private voice to students of all ages in both private and group settings. Erin aims to inspire students to become life-long music lovers by providing instruction that is relaxed yet focused on each student's individual needs. Erin's teaching philosophy is rooted in establishing a free and resonant tone without body tension. Students will learn how to produce a healthy sound with optimal breath support and pharyngeal space. Erin works with beginning through advanced singers by helping them to take their talents to the next level. Erin offers lessons in the Seacoast region of NH and via Zoom. Erin is a Resident Artist in Voice at the University of New Hampshire, and a Lecturer of Voice at Saint Anselm College.
