Cari McAskill has received numerous awards and scholarships for her performances of opera and operetta. She has performed principal roles with Livermore Valley Opera, Pocket Opera, UCI Opera and the University of Michigan. Ms. McAskill received an M.F.A. degree from the University of California at Irvine, where she studied under Dr. Darryl Taylor and appeared in concert with the UCI Symphony. While at UCI, she played the title role in Menotti’s The Medium, and also appeared in a (non-opera) production of As You Like It, as the maudlin courtier Jaques. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in vocal performance from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre and Dance, where she studied under Prof. Martha Sheil. At the University of Michigan, Ms. McAskill appeared as Lady Billows in Albert Herring, and performed the final trio of Der Rosenkavalier in recital. Other credits include workshop performances as Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana, and a concert appearance with the University of Michigan Symphonic Band (performing “Allmächt’ge Jungfrau” from Tannhäuser).

McAskill’s recitals at the University of Michigan included a program inspired by All Souls’ Day (Allerseelen), a lush evening of Wagner, Chausson and Debussy, and a program of entirely Russian and Czech music. After receiving her doctorate from Michigan, McAskill appeared in productions of Boito's Mefistofele and the Verdi Requiem, as a chorister with the San Francisco Opera. She was one of seven finalists in the Wagner Division of the 2013 Liederkranz Competition. She also participated in Jane Eaglen’s summer Wagner Intensive, beginning her study of Brünnhilde (Götterdämmerung) and Ortrud (Lohengrin) and appearing in scenes from both operas, working with conductors Gareth Morrell and William Vendice. In San Francisco, she performed the conclusion of Strauss's Salome as part of an avant-garde presentation of Oscar Wilde's play.

More recent performances include an alumna recital at the University of California, Irvine, and house recitals in San Francisco, CA.
