Bio: Melissa Williams moved to Boulder, CO from Boston, MA. While in Boston she was employed at Riverside Theatre Works Performing Arts Center as the Managing Director. Besides overseeing the daily operations of this non-profit organization, she was an active voice instructor, director and performer in Boston. Melissa received her Masters Degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado studying with the late Barbara Doscher and then continued her studies at the Boston Opera Institute with Sharon Daniels and Phyllis Curtin.
In her Boulder private studio, Melissa has prepared several of her students for auditions in community and regional theatres and many of her graduating students are attending performing arts colleges such as Tisch School of performing arts, PACE University and Hartt School of Music as well as performing in Broadway (Mary Poppins, Annie, Lion King, Grease) and regional houses. Besides teaching and directing, Melissa is an active performer and at home on the opera and musical theatre stages. Favorite roles include the title role in MAME, the Baker’ Wife in INTO THE WOODS, the Countess in LE NOZZE Di FIGARO and Hansel in HANSEL AND GRETEL.
Melissa brings a broad background of instruction from the opera to musical theatre stage to her studio - South Boulder Vocal Studio. She is currently the Choral Director at BVUUF and works with CenterStage Theater Company in Louisville as a Stage Director.
Melissa and her partner Scott Sewell live in Boulder and are raising two teen age daughters.
