A graduate of the University of Ottawa, Kristine Dandavino is a pianist and singer based out of Oshawa, Ontario. Kristine started piano lessons at the age of 7 in Montréal. At the age of 11, she was accepted at the prestigious music school Pierre Laporte where she studied piano, choir, chamber music and harmony. Upon graduation, Kristine made her professional debut singing Madame Flora in the title role of The Medium by Menotti under Maestra Agnès Grossman in Orford, Québec. The following year, she performed in the Black Hills Summer Institute of the Arts, in South Dakota.Ms Dandavino has had the opportunity to sing in the chorus of Opera Mississauga. In 2002, she performed the roles of Zuleika and First Nymph in the North American premier of Nikola Subic Zrinjski by Zajc with Opera Mississauga.
Recently, she made a guest appearance with Durham Philharmonic Choir, Oshawa Durham Symphony Orchestra and performances with Music for Muses. Operatic and Operetta roles include Acuzena from Verdi's Il Trovatore, Magda Sorel from Menotti's The Consul, Aunt Marsh from Adamo's Little Women, Dinah from Bernstein's Trouble in Tahiti, Ortrud from Wagner's Lohengrin, Katisha from Gilbert and Sullivan's Mikado and Little Buttercup from HMS Pinafore. As a pianist, Kristine has worked as music director, vocal accompanist, vocal coach and worked for conductors such as Paolo Bellomia, David Currie, Christopher Burton. Furthermore, she was the vocal coach for Martha Collins' students within JSANO. In November 2012, Kristine Dandavino sang the title role in Beethoven's only opera Fidelio with Toronto Opera Collaborative. Kristine Dandavino is also the founder of Oshawa Opera. In April 2013, Kristine will be adjudicating at the Orillia Kiwanis Music Festival and in May 2013, she sang Chimène in Massenet's Le Cid.Her voice is featured on the CD Vocal Rescue: Rediscover the Beauty, Power and Freedom in Your Singing . Furthermore, Kristine is a Registered Music Teacher in good standing with Ontario Registered Music Teacher Association (Oshawa Branch) and currently serves as the Vice-President of the O.R.M.T.A branch. Furthermore, Kristine is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS).
