Job Description / Duties

Teach applied voice. Excellence in teaching a diverse array of styles within the voice studio (including classical, commercial, musical theatre, and sacred/worship) is an expectation for this position Provide academic advising to music majors; participate in faculty governance, recruit voice students. Additional responsibilities may be assigned according to the candidate’s strengths and the needs of the institution which may include co-directing opera theatre (conducting or staging), vocal pedagogy, vocal diction, vocal literature, and involvement in musical theatre productions.

Qualifications / Required Skills

The successful candidate will be an experienced musician and teacher with a commitment to liberal arts education. An earned doctorate in music or ABD status, along with evidence of successful teaching and creative activity/research.

Salary: This is a tenure-track appointment, beginning in August of 2022. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The Division of Music is a part of the School of Fine Arts at Ouachita Baptist University. It is housed in the Mabee Fine Arts Center and has approximately 100 music majors. The Division of Music has 20 full-time faculty. Bachelor of Music degrees are offered in performance, musical theatre, and music education with emphasis in either choral or instrumental music. In addition, there is a Bachelor of Arts degree in music, worship studies, and music industry. The Division of Music is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.
