Category: College/UniversityFull-time, tenure-track position as Director of Choirs in the Carnegie Mellon University School of Music. Appointment to begin in Fall Semester of 2014. The successful candidate is responsible for all activities related to the smooth operation of the choral program at Carnegie Mellon. Teach one course per semester in his/her area of expertise, in consultation with the Head of Music. He/she will also serve on School, College and University committees, and satisfy all other normal requirements of full-time faculty. The candidate is expected to continue to maintain a strong national or international professional profile as a performing and/or teaching artist. Candidate will be expected to be an effective recruiter.
A thorough knowledge of traditional and modern choral repertoire and advanced training and professional experience in choral conducting. Minimum academic requirements for this position are a Master's degree or equivalent professional experience. Preferred requirements are a DMA or equivalent professional experience. A significant list of recordings or an established record of research in the area of music performance is expected.
