Job Description / Duties
UNIVERSITY OF NEVADA, LAS VEGAS – Assistant Professor of Music, Studio Voice (soprano or mezzo soprano). Full-time, nine month, tenure-track appointment. Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions; position is contingent upon funding. Position begins August 1, 2014. Primary responsibility to teach voice performance studies to undergraduate and graduate music majors. Other responsibilities might include vocal pedagogy, vocal literature, or other classes according to the successful candidate’s experience and departmental needs. The candidate is expected to work closely with colleagues, to assume an active role in the recruitment of undergraduate and graduate students to the Department of Music, and to foster artistic and academic success of UNLV’s student populations, 52% of which are culturally diverse. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent significant experience, and evidence of distinguished professional experience as a singer required; DMA in performance, teaching experience at the college level, and demonstrated success in working with diverse populations preferred. The successful candidate will be expected to be involved in research and/or creative activity appropriate for a major research institution, and to commit to enhancing UNLV’s role as a Minority and a Hispanic Serving Institution.
